Every week has it's ups and downs, but it really doesn't matter how many downs there are because that one "UP" makes the entire week amazing.
This week we struggled to find new people to teach. Our investigators that we have been teaching haven't been here since there all going on vacations. For the first couple of days we were having a hard time even getting into peoples houses. Then Thursday hit.
On Thursday, I was really excited because we FINALLY had a time set to go visit Nora. Nora is an investigator who has a baptismal date for the 7th of July. As we were walking to her house, we decided to call her just to confirm things. When we were called her, she ended up telling us that she was on vacation and wayyyyy the heck out of Bogotà . I was pretty bummed out by that. That means she's not going to get baptized this coming week...
We started walking down the road when we got a message on our phone. It was a reference from the offices. Since our teaching appointment fell, we went straight to this reference to go contact it. Turns out, this house was literally right in front of us! We were about two houses down from this reference. When we got there, we found a man outside smoking a cigarette. He told us, " Are you those mormons that I've heard about?". We were like, heck yea. He immediately started to smile and got super excited. He invited us in to his home and we started talking. Then this mans wife walked in. This lady went nuts right after she heard we were missionaries. I was like what the heck is going on here. Turns out they have a son in Utah. His name is Christian. The missionaries found him there and started teaching him. He really loves what he is learning because he started calling his family and telling them all about it. The family consists of William (father), Nelfi (Mother), Christian (son), Juana (Daughter). This families desire to get closer to God was amazing. They literally are willing to take on any compromise we leave for them. We taught them the Restoration. We ended up having to leave since they wouldn't stop asking us so many questions! It was amazing! They are so excited to learn. Our second teaching appointment with them was even better than the first. We had left them with folletos of the Restoration, and there are various questions in the back of the brochure about what the lesson is about, but it goes more into depth. The daughter! Who's 15 years old! Filled the entire thing out! She started stating things from the Bible in Marcos, Juan, Matthew, etc.. I was shook. Here understanding of the Restoration was amazing! We taught the Galeano Sanchez family about the Book of Mormon. They accepted the invitation to read, ponder, and pray. They also accepted a date to get baptized on the 21st of July my BIRTHDAY WOO WOO! They had the chance to come to church this Sunday and it was perfect because it was fast and testimonies meeting. The spirit was felt in that meeting. We have a family night planned with them this week. This family is definitely a miracle.
Love you all!
Elder Horton
